Europe 2022 – 23 Wrap Up

One last amazing German breakfast was a treat before we had to head back to the dreaded Munich airport. I wonder how disappointed German travelers are when the visit the States and stay at a place like a Holiday Inn and walk down to the continental breakfast! None of the hotels we stayed in were expensive options and all of them had lovely breakfast options. Well fueled, we headed to the airport and had to wait in line since neither Tserka or I were able to check in online, plus we had bags to check. We assumed that arriving 2 hrs and 45 mins early would be plenty of time to make the 90 minute cut off for checked bags. We made it to the counter with about 75 mins until take off! So, new rule when flying overseas, get to the airport 3 1/2 hrs early! Other than the epic wait and the rush to get to the gate, the flights home were easy!

A rough estimate of driving times (manually adding in the last leg back to airport since My Maps only allows so many waypoints) gives about 27 hrs of driving! Luckily none of the individual legs felt that bad but then again, Josh got stuck with most of the late night driving! Did we once again try to cram too much into a 10 day trip? Maybe! But considering we lost two days due to travel issues I think the original plan would have been perfect. I’ll say this trip left me wanting more so I’m sure a warm weather trip here is in our future, especially when I saw all the cool things Steve and Josh had planned that we had to delete.
