Europe 2022/23 Day 1 Dec 26

Wow, not even out of the states yet and the “adventures” are already piling up! It’s sad when the best part of the day was the rental car return. 😂 Flight from Indy delayed because of unscanned bags (this particular individual is un-scannable), then we had to wait to be de-iced. We land and Steve and I sprint the 0.45 mile to the connecting flight knowing we wouldn’t make it but hoping! We see the plane still there but the doors closed. There is a group there ahead of us that ws super nasty mean to the counter lady. We get in line to change flights at the customer service counter. Finally make it to front of line, then before we can do anything, original airline lady runs over and says we might be able to get on! Huzzah! We run back over to get, get new boarding passes, then wait… and wait… they can’t find our checked bags! They won’t let us on the plane without the bags. 😭 The plane closes again and sadness ensues. They give us voucher for hotel, go to hotel, learn there is no shuttle back to airport tomorrow. Ok, we’ll deal with that later. We walk to first restaurant, Chili’s, to be told their kitchen was broke. Walk to next one, line too long. We neglected to check the Yummy Crab because fast food seafood just didn’t sound good, finally ubered to Ruby Tuesdays and drinks all around! The Winter Sangria (Cabernet, brandy, fresh fruit purée, and Fireball) was amazing! We had a decent night sleep at the comped hotel and then breakfast at Starbucks. Back to the airport to make darn sure we are on this plane to Germany!

Bit cramped on the way up, hopefully the rental car in Germany is larger!
